The Remarkable Truths of God's Word

Christians today need to be able to defend their belief and faith in God’s Word more than ever.  I wanted to share some truths found in Adrian Rogers’ book What Every Christian Ought to Know.

Each word in the Holy Bible was written by the inspiration of God; each word was God-inspired.  Adrian Rogers states the Bible is shown to be the word of God by its scientific and historical accuracy, its unity, its fulfilled prophecy, its ever-living quality, and its transforming power.  The Holy Bible contains 66 books written by 40 or more authors from 13 different countries on 3 different continents over a period of 1600 years.  The writers had different backgrounds, they wrote in different styles, and there were at least 3 different languages.  Despite the time span, the diverse backgrounds of the writers, the various locations and languages of the writers, the Holy Bible has only one theme, one hero, one villain, and one purpose; redemption, the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Satan, and the glory of God.  What other explanation could be given for the Bible’s remarkable unity?

Adrian Rogers continues to explain that since the existence of our Holy Bible, no other book in the world has been more scrutinized, rejected, studied, and attacked. Yet, the Bible continues to be the most read book globally and the most sold book in the world.  There is no doubt, some despise it, deny it, and distort it.  The Bible has been warped, misused, abused, and Satan hates it.  One truth remains, people and their feelings and beliefs come and go, but the Word of God remains; the Word of God never wavers and never changes.

Adrian points out that for Christians, our salvation depends on understanding the Gospels’ truths, our assurance depends on resting in the truths of the Bible, our spiritual growth depends on living by the principles of the Bible, and the power of our witness depends on our confidence in the God’s Word.

John 10:27 says, “My sheep hear my voice”.  It doesn’t surprise me that many will never know the saving grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Isaiah 44:18 says, “They know nothing, they understand nothing; their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see, and their minds closed so they cannot understand”.  1 Corinthians 2: 14 states, “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit”.
